Who were Geraldine’s parents?
« on: Sunday 23 June 19 14:01 BST (UK) »
Geraldine O’Connell (or Connell) was born around 1875 in the state of Illinois. She was married to Frank Fuller in a Catholic ceremony on 29 June 1897. The 1900 US census states that Geraldine’s father had been born in Maine, whereas her mother had been born in Ireland.

I can’t locate any records for Geraldine prior to her marriage so any help would be hugely appreciated.

1930 census: Geraldine Fuller b Illinois.  Father: Maine.  Mother: Canada French.

This does seem to be an outlier though - in other censuses as you say her mother’s birthplace was given as Ireland.

Have you looked into whether a marriage certificate/register entry survives?

There is a register of marriages that I found which gave the date, place of marriage ect. but did not give any names besides the bride and groom, not even witnesses.

This book is about the Fuller side, but it calls Geraldine A Geraldine Connell. Maybe her earlier records use her first name?
I'll try to attach a clip of the entry for Geraldine's husband and his father.

Genealogy of some descendants of Dr. Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower,
to which is added a supplement to the Genealogy of some descendants of Edward Fuller of the Mayflower, published in 1908.

Have you looked for a death notice? It might name her parents. She died 1947 and is buried in Milwaukee, WI.

Or a wedding announcement?

Thank you for replying. Can anyone tell me where I can access American newspapers please? Is there an equivalent to the British newspaper archives?

Quite alot of the newspapers available are on subscription sites.

Have a read here - something might pop up for you - Availability Waukesha Newspapers and Obituaries

Found one for Frank Fuller but nothing for Geraldine at moment.

If the A. initial is accurate, there's an Annie O'Connell with father born Maine & mother born Ireland in Illinois in 1880:  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9YYY-21C?i=22&cc=1417683  Maybe?
