What is the christian name ?
« on: Sunday 23 June 19 14:44 BST (UK) »
What is the christian name below George ?  It has been changed on ancestry but still not what you would expect it should be.

Can any one see a birth record for the mystery child? I've found the other children but nothing for him, perhaps I'm missing the obvious.

The father should be George Woodward/Woodard and the mother Sarah Anne White  :-\

marriage - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DL1-WJS

Births of children found are in West Ham.

This is the link to the family on the 1881 census East Ham Essex.  The surname of this family varies from Woodward/Woodwards/Woodards etc.

My first thought before looking at links is a female name - Deborah. Yet you use the pronoun "him" so obviously, the child is recorded as being male ::)

Will look again  ;D

He is Debert Woodard on the 1881 - he should be Herbert Woodward on a 1874 birth (if there is one) someone has changed the name to Robert on ancestry - so quite a mess as you can see .......... ::)

Looks just like Debert to me. An unusual name.

The first letter looks very much like the D in Dobson at the top of the page.  The Hs are different.  Very odd though.

I can see how this has been transcribed as Debert - and perhaps that is what it is and that was what his family called him.  Odd you can't find a birth, mind you.

Free BMD has 4 Debert as a male child's first name. One Deberta presumably a female. One male dies

Its a 1874 birth West Ham barrryd.

Spent literally hour's and hour's going thru this one.  No births for Debert, Herbert, Hubert, Robert under the various Woodward/Woodwards/Woodard/Woodards  etc - which is rather strange.  beginning to doubt myself and rechecked again several times  :-\

No Debert names 1874. Not in England/Wales. Of course he could have been born elsewhere.
