Maybe Alice used her grandfather's name on Marriage.

Continued the search - agree with AVM228 and this is probably the right A G Hodson. No progress since - have followed the sister (Catherine) line to no avail. I'm believing I will have to wait until the 1921 Census to see if it has Alice Winifred's place of birth or her mothers place of birth!

Have you considered DNA genealogy in case it provides any connections whilst you wait for January 2022 to roll around?  (Perhaps you are more patient than me!)
