Pickle Factory Berlin Germany

The OP says, "The young lad was born in Baumschulenweg, East Berlin in 1940", it does'nt mention where he was living at the time of the pickle factory so it may of been nearer Lübbenau or were there more pickle factories? Also, the wall was started in 1961 and later extended to 120 Km long so I don't think the young lad was that young post 1961, some recollections don't add up.

Baumschulenweg was a "district" with numerous streets.
Knowing what street he lived in at the time would help.
Did he visit the pickle factory on his way to and from school? if yes, what school did he go to?

I´ve added a map of Baumschulenweg and drawn a black line showing the run of the Wall as built in 1961. I don´t know if the demarcation line in 1950 was the same.

Can he pinpoint his place of residence on the map

There was also a gardening nursery in the Späthestrasse.
The only thing that does´nt fit is the fact that the nursery was in East Berlin, meaning, he would´nt have needed to cross any demarcation lines. They were both in the east.

Many thanks for your replies and your Map of Baumschulenweg.
The family did live later (after 1940) at an address at 1. Berlin, Hilderhauser Strasse 8.
My Friend took his daughter and Grand Daughter to Germany to visit his Mother in 1973, the year the G Daughter born.  Sadly my Friend's Mother died (by suicide) a few weeks before they arrived in Berlin.  Mother's name: Kathe Schmidt, maiden name HÖRSTEL.  Kathe's Mother could have been a twin and sisters name Trudi (or Gertrude).  His father was Harri SCHMIDT (born 1914) occupation: Bank Clerk. Father believed to suffer from TB and died soon after the end of the war.
Trying to find Mother's death and hopefully her parents names.

Attach part of an Email with more information to help pin point the area more closely
in Baumschulenweg.  Email from the Daughter of my Friend -- he sadly is unable to mark the area on DaveCapps Map he sent.  The Daughter is the one as a baby taken to visit Germany in 1973 ( see earlier replies).

Maybe this address is wrong, can't find present or past.  Found Strasse 8.
Have you got a name and dates for Kathe's Mother. The only HÖRSTEL I can find is Mathilde Emilie Gertrud Hörstel, born 1874, father Carl Friedrich Adolf Hörstel,  mother Adeline Hermine Mathilde Hörstel.

The closest I can find is Hildesheimer Str. 8. Is that a possibility?

My old friend has recalled another address his family lived at after 1957;
                 Hippelstrasse 25.  Britz. Berlin
Any Pickle Factories near by?
