Hullo,
Would sks have an Email Address fro St.Nicholas Lutheran Church ,Berlin.

Hi Barry.

This might be worth a try:

https://www.en.stadtmuseum.de/node/1214

Click on "Contact" either top or bottom of the page, and you can fill out a contact form.

OK, it's for the church museum, but it might be worthwhile.

Best regards,
Karen

Hullo Dave,
Hopefully I have not worn out my welcome with this subject.
Have just been advised my ageing friend's Parents full names.
His Father was Harri Otto Carl SCHMIDT and his Mother was Käthe Charlotte Martha HÖRSTEL, the Mother born about 1908. The Mother died in Berlin in 1973.  These found on a piece of paper with no other information or dates.
Their two Sons were born in Berlin in 1936 and 1940.
Can sks please help, I'm quite frustrated.
Kind regards
clancam37.

it would help if you had at least stated where he lived in east Berlin.
north-south-east-west etc

btw. They started building the wall 1961. So that means he was crossing demarcation lines between East and West Berlin, not the wall.

Hullo Dave,
Having  learnt also of twin girls in the family possibly Aunts of my ageing friend I have been searching for and found two girls born in 1911 on Ancestry.com.
Cannot find any records revealing more names of this family.
have looked on Ancestry and Family Search without success.  Both birth records from Ancestry are attached and the original source from which these were taken is "Baden, Germany Lutheran Births marriages & deaths, 1502-1985.
Hope to find a Birth or Marriage record of at least one of the girls to learn more family names.
Thanks for your help
Regards

Hello Barry,

Did you see my reply (#27) with the details for the church museum? There is a possibility that they hold the records.

Both birth records from Ancestry are attached and the original source from which these were taken is "Baden, Germany Lutheran Births marriages & deaths, 1502-1985.

This is getting complicated.  :) Are you relatively sure there is a connection? There was a little blob of Baden/Württemberg/Bayern which was Preußen
(see blue map here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussia )
but it's a jolly long way from Berlin. Or should we forget Berlin now?

Best regards,
Karen

No problem, we're here to help if we can.
The name spellings are difficult to follow, Hörstel and Herstel are they the same?

Hi Karen,
I emailed the Museum address you gave me they replied with another site of addresses. Thismking it was the Lutheran Church I emailed the one nearest to Buamschulenweg asking for their help.
Afterwards I checked and the address I emailed was the Registration Office and am now awaiting a reply from them.  My Friend just remembered an Aunt Martha who was a twin so I'm searching for twins born about that time who may be related.
Are you walking Woofie/
Kind regards

Re your reply #29 - Johanna’s middle name is ‘Marthe’. Might she have used her middle name rather than her first name? Might she be the twin Martha? (or have I got that wrong somewhere along the line?)
