Trouble reading date and Captain of Ship's Manifest

Hi there,

I have attached a part of the ship SS Brooklyn manifest. I can't quite make out the date and Captain's name.

If someone with better eyes than mine  :) :) :) wouldn't mind taking a look at the attached file nd letting me know, that would be fantastic.

might it be 1872? Isn't there a bracket printed on the form that makes the 2 look like a 4?

I never would have been able to read the date of the month. :-\

It's definitely May 7th 1872. Cross checked with newspaper reports of City of Brooklyn's arrival in New York at 3pm that day.

In 1874 she arrived on April 29th.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful assistance.

May 7th would fit nicely as my ancestors left Denmark around April 20th to travel to Liverpool in England. I believe the City of Brooklyn was a steamer, so by my calculations, that would be perfect.

The City of Brooklyn left Liverpool on April 25th 1872.
