Burial of Margaret Page in 1856
« on: Saturday 29 June 19 06:32 BST (UK) »
We have a very old family letter which says that my ancestor Margaret Page died in 1856 in Dublin. She was living in Rathgar at the time.

Shes listed in the Index to Prerogative Wills 1811-1858 in 1856. Assuming that hers was one of the Wills destroyed Im hoping theres a burial record for her. Her family seemed to change religions between Catholicism and COI.

Her husband Theophilus Page was buried in St Marks in 1837. While theres nothing left of the cemetery I'm hoping to visit it in September this year

Can anyone find a burial record for Margaret?

Just an update to this

Margaret Page died 6 March 1856. She is buried in a paupers grave and was buried 9 March 1856. She used to have a Will but I have been unable to locate it. She is buried in grave B56-179 with two other unrelated people in Mt Jerome Cemetery. The plot is unmarked although Id still like to photograph it and record the location next time I visit Ireland

I haven't found her death certificate yet.

Civil registration of births, marriages and deaths only started in 1864 in Ireland. The only exception was the registration of non Catholic marriages, which started in 1845.

Thanks Frosty

I probably should have put 'burial record'. She was from a well off family and had multiple properties in the Griffiths Valuation but was buried in a paupers grave. I have other Dublin based ancestors who did have burial records for the pre civil registration.

That said her 1814 marriage as Margaret Cummins Ive been unable to find either. I thought Dublin records were quite 'intact'.
