Thankyou, I’ve also just found in 1880 Tralee newspaper archives a ‘woman named Neligan’ from Ballymullen, wife of a mason, receiving outdoor relief of 3s as husband was too ill to work. I believe these are my Maurice and Margaret as Maurice died a year later of stomach cancer and was a mason in Ballymullen. Putting it here in case anyone is researching them in the future. Have all the kids baptisms now thanks 😁

No sadly not. The other Neligans seem well to do, a solicitor etc, but mine seemed destined for the poor house! Have seen a couple of other Maurice's in nearby areas but it doesnt fit with age at death, marriage etc.

Yes one 4 Feb (my youngest girls birthday!) 1824 but in Castleisland. Unsure if mine as there are others about. A Maurice Neligan married Margaret Lean in Castleisland 1862 (and it's not the Maurice who was born there in 1839, as the parents are different). I believe my Maurice was sponsor to Ann O'Connor and Joanna Hallinin's baptisms in Ballymullen.
