Peter Hamilton - Exciseman 1800
« on: Saturday 29 June 19 19:55 BST (UK) »
He married Margaret Bowie in Cardross in 1800.  They had eight children all born Dumbarton by 1826. Margaret was a widow in 1841 census.  Has anyone any information regarding possible lists of Excisemen or Customs Officers during that time.  I have tried searching for a burial 1818-1841 but only MI's seem to be available - no stone then!   Margaret died in 1860 and is buried in Cardross - no stone there either!

Thank you very much for the helpful information. I'll have to try to get up to Edinburgh soon.
