Harry Stantiford Thompson died in 1942.
His solicitors asked for 'any person having a claim against H S T otherwise known as (and (five) 5 names are listed) to come forward.

Why would H S T have 5 aliases??

The names of the aliases could have been made up or he was using the names of living people.

But why so many aliases -

In 1930/30 wealthy H S T was buying land in Fulham and Brentford - doesn't mean he wasn't a criminal!
but criminals more likely to keep their alias(es) rather than revert to original name. He was born HST and died HST.

If he was using aliases and had 5 properties it may be worth checking to see if he was keeping a different partner/spouse in each house.

Keeping businesses separate. You still see adverts stating "John Jones trading as Sam Smith".   

 I worked for a firm that had dealings with Israel, The Arab nations, the EU and with the USA. The company had four different names. There were four different phone lines coming into the switchboard/reception. Depending on which phone rang, the receptionist rang internal phones each dedicated to a particular region.

That, or avoiding some of the restrictions imposed by the rent acts, would be my guess also.
