Unknown Armed Forces can anyone give me any clue to identification
« on: Saturday 06 July 19 16:45 BST (UK) »

Whilst my Mum was sorting through her photographs yesterday we came across an unknown, we know the photograph doesn't belong to her family

It possibly belonged to my Step-Father's maternal line which could be Atherton.

Can anyone identify anything from the photo? I am presuming the photo dates from WWII but I am open to other options, and most likely English Regiment

The badges appear to be the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
(1) Janions of Cheshire, Lancashire, Hawaii, Vancouver and Seattle.
(2) Gregorys of Tarporley, Cheshire.
(3) Pughs of 'The New Pale' near Frodsham and Delamere in Cheshire.
(4) Nevills of Llanelly, Llangennech and Felinfoel.
(5) Yaldens of Ovington/Lovington in Hampshire.

You will also see he was a Lance-Corporal indicated by the single chevron visible on his upper right sleeve.

I expect you have noticed it already but in the bottom left there appears to be the photographer's imprinted details. I cannot make out what it says but that will likely help identify where the photo was taken. Good luck with your research.

Have you searched the military records on either Anc*y or F M P

There is this entry  the original image is viewable at Fold3  (need a membership) although his rank is Lieutenant Colonel.

H. Atherton
