The Fifes of Alloa
« on: Sunday 07 July 19 17:04 BST (UK) »
The 1841 for Alloa, Carsebridge shows a Fany Fife age 45 Pensioner and a James Fife Age 68 Independent living with a family of Dawsons viz Betsy 20, James 18, Fany 10, Robert 14 and Charles 7.
Can anyone tell me the relationship between these two Fifes and the Fifes to the Dawsons please?
Many thanks.

The 1841 census does not show relationships

Have you looked up any of the Dawson births on Scotland's people to see who the mother was?  Look up Robert's birth on SP and there's your answer :)

Look for a Fife/Fyfe/Dawson marriage on SP - 1815 should do it   :)

Thanks Carole for this information on the Fyfe/Dawson relationship.

Have not yet found the connection between James and Fany Fyfe but it looks as though he could be her  father.

This may be her death reg.

Francis Erskine Dawson 82 Year 1876 Clackmannan RD (other surname Fyfe). Hopefully this would give father's name.

I also note that the 1851 census has this
 Carsebridge, Alloa All born Alloa

Frances Dawson 51
Frances Dawson 25 Dau
Robert Dawson 23 Son
Charles Dawson 17 Son
James Fife 89 Pauper (no relationship shown on Freecen transcription)

1861 still at Carsebridge

Francis Dawson 66
Charles Dawson 26

1871 Holton Square, Alloa

Charles Dawson 36
Montague Dawson 31 wife
Elisabeth Dawson dau 2
Francis Dawson widow 77

There is a birth in Alloa for a Fanny Fyfe in Alloa 29 March 1794 Parents James Fyfe and Elizabeth Hunter.
