Carden and Caden
« on: Wednesday 10 July 19 05:49 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I have a great grandmother Sarah
Carden, born @ 1844, in County Mayo, Ireland.I have been trying to find a County Mayo birthplace.
Her parents were William Carden and Catherine O’Brien.
I think they lived in the Kilalla/Ballina area.
Her family moved to Liverpool,
England in the early 1850s.
On Ancestry a few matches to me have the surname:Caden.
Does anyone know of a connection between the surnames Caden and Carden?
Oddly my husband has a Caden ancestor from Crossmolina.

We share an Ancestry match with a family connected to those Crossmolina Cadens.

I do not think my family Carden surname is misspelled and is actually Caden.
It was recorded Carden in Liverpool
Censuses, RC records and family trees of connected Cardens born after the move to Liverpool.

Thank you for reading this note!

www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk
baptisms = 19 for Carden - NONE for Caden
marriages = 17 for Carden - NONE for Caden
so I wouldn't think there is any connection at all ?

1841 is first record in Liverpool for Carden on that site
Marriage
1841   109   ST PATRICK   JOHN   JOHN   CARDEN   MARY    MARY    CLARKE

if you know the family members have a look and see if you can find their marriage in Liverpool - good luck

https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0753 Kilmoremoy  also from there you can select other neighbouring parishes from map thereon.
