1867 Parrett/Lloyd marriage reg at Newport Dist.
« on: Sunday 14 July 19 20:15 BST (UK) »
I am searching for the marriage place of William Parrett and Elizabeth Lloyd. Freebmd indicates their marriage was reg at Newport Dist., Sept qtr 1867.  I believe it is likely Rogerstone, but do not have access to marriage cert.  Their daughter Elizabeth was born at Rogerstone Oct 1867.

Thanx for your help.
cheers,
ian

Correction: You DO have access to the marriage certificate ;D You just have to buy it!

Also, try the GRO Indexes for the birth of Elizabeth - that will show mother's maiden name.

For info newspapers suggest William was skilled in hedging and ditching as he was placed in a number of competitions. Also he worked at ROgerstone Castle

1871 census has him with wife Hannah

the marriage isn't on the parish registers available via FindMyPast so it may be in a non-conformist church or at the registry office.

There are two churches in Rogerstone at the moment, Bethesda Baptiste Church and St Johns, both have their own graveyards which may or may not be of help. Rogerstone Castle is long gone and I think there may have a church somewhere close by, again which is long gone. Rogerstone was/ is on the rural outskirts of Newport, which would make sense for the ditching, hedge work.
