Books on Longford
« on: Sunday 14 July 19 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,
anyone know if there are any books (History, genealogy) on the Edgesworth townland in Longford,
my main interests are between the year 1800 - 1850 . Have looked at the Longford Resources and Links on Rootschat but sadly most don't work.

I doubt very much if a book would be written on a specific townland

Maybe on a specific family

That's the exact reason I asked as there are many books about Ballinasloe and the townlands from which I have got info from my paternal side and thought there must be something similar in Longford.

Ballinasloe is a town but Edgeworth is a tiny townland of a few acres out in countryside.

Have you tried contacting the local library or local history archive (may be in a larger library covering a more widespread area) to see if they can suggest any books about the area?

Thanks everyone for the replies,
will get in touch with the local library and see if they have any info, I have a few baptism's  records and all have the same location but I guess they could have lived elsewhere in Longford and gone to the church in Edgeworthstown . Here is one

Does the actual baptism (not a transcript) not show townland?

Added- apparently not  :-\
