Seeking assistance with German lineage
« on: Monday 15 July 19 03:55 BST (UK) »
I am seeking help confirming the earlier lineage of my family, prior to my great grandfather, Mathias Haas. He was born on August 2, 1859 in Prechtal, in what was then the Grand Duchy of Baden, now Germany. I know that the names of his parents were Mathias Haas and Katharina Bühler. He died in White Haven, Pennsylvania, USA on May 7, 1924.

On the WikiTree message board, a poster recommended I access the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg (https://www2.landesarchiv-bw.de/ofs21/olf/startbild.php?bestand=10028), but I have not had any success doing so, and also provided a link to his civil birth record (image below) ...

https://www2.landesarchiv-bw.de/ofs21/bild_zoom/zoom.php?bestand=10028&id=2242606&gewaehlteSeite=05_0000497315_0129_5-497315-129.png&screenbreite=1680&screenhoehe=1050

So, as I initially requested, I am seeking any assistance identifying the earlier generations of my Haas family, and finding any information about them.

Thanks, Bill Haas
Emmaus, PA, USA

Did you read through the civil birth records to find earlier/later siblings?
(although I can't immediately see why this one (Rather than any other Matthias Haas) is "yours"?)

The 1900 census? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M3QW-W5S (gives immigration date)
Did you locate him travelling with anyone else from the family?
What additional family info comes from the USA (1882-ish) marriage record?

1910? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGC7-PPL

Thanks for your kind assistance, Pauline! The census and immigration records you found do indeed refer to my great grandfather, Mathias Haas (rather than another person of the same name). While greatly appreciated, they are records that I had previously.

As my intent is to confirm the earlier lineage, I do wish to respond to your question regarding siblings. I found online records for a sister Gottlieb (b: 1851, d: 1853) and an unnamed "Baby" Haas (d: July 26 1854).
