Hit a wall - George Davies
« on: Monday 15 July 19 20:27 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I’m looking for pointers when you’ve hit a wall.

I received the marriage certificate for William George Davies and Mary Sansome in 1852, Birmingham. It lists the grooms father as George Davies.

I can’t seem to have hit the wall with dad, George. His occupation was listed as a groomsman. I think his spouse was Mary and I believe they gave birth to William George Davies in Evesbatch, Hereford. Even then I’m not sure. Any help and advice to get past my wall would be gratefully received.

Do you have a birth ref for William George Davies?
When was he born, and do you have him in censuses?
What were the witnesses' names on the marriage?
What was his father's occupation?

Where did you get the information about George and Mary, his parents?

Is this him?

There was another child born prior to Celia
Sarah Perry Davies Dec 1/4 1852 registration district Birmingham vol 6d page 130 mother's maiden name Sansome.
Having trouble finding William for sure in1841/51.

What makes you think his middle name was George? His son's name was William George but transcribed as a J in the 1861 census. I will correct it to 'G' as per the birth registration on the GRO index.

Did Mary and William die between 1864 - 1871 or just Mary?

I still can't get further back than 1861 with William for sure.

Hi,

How about this William,

Baptism

17 Feb 1828
St. John Baptist, Hereford
William DAVIES
Father:    George DAVIES
Mother:    Selina

I can't see an image to see what George's occupation is.  William has a daughter called Celia which could be named after his mother :-\

Daisy
