FBMD
« on: Tuesday 16 July 19 10:09 BST (UK) »
Is anyone else having trouble with fbmd.?
I use the site from time to time and have found  it very useful.
Tried again yesterday to check something, but there were no redults.
So did a  few runs to check, you know ,things I was absolutely certain of but again nothing found.
This may be good news to some of you - but  I don’t exist !
I have found the same things in the past,so why no results now when the information put in is exactly the same.
I know parts are a  work in progress, but surely what I have found before ought to still be available, any thoughts.?
Many thanks in advance.
Viktoria.

Viktoria.
Viktoria, I have plenty of trouble finding ancestors who don't appear to exist on records.  If it turns out that you don't exist I will be devastated!  :( :( :( :o :o :o

Thank you, I began to thinK I was a figment of my own imagination!
There must be something wrong when absolute facts verified by certificates etc show no results.
So according to FBDM my parents were not married,my sister too does not exist,my parents are still alive at 123and 122years respectively,my sister and I are unmarried mothers of children who also do not exist.
It will be cheap at Christmas!
Sooo frustrating and I can’t ask anyone to search for me as people are still living and it was just a little help I wanted to give.
I will try one more time with my tiddler  G.Grandson as old records of 50 + years are non productive so if they have been transcribed recent ones may come up.Thanks.
Viktoria,well I think so!

P.S,forgot records only go up,to 1993 for one thing I need but nothing comes up for any date.
Do you think the tax man will still be able to get me?
V.

Just make sure that you are putting the surname in the surname box, and not the forename box.
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

I've just done a quick check to see if I and a few relatives still exist and we're all still there! The dates I looked at were from between 1887 -1965.
Could it be that you have a district or county filter on? It's easily done.

I used to transcribe for freebmd and never heard of batches of data being removed.

Well the absolute certainties are my direct family. Manchester.

Those not coming up are Shropshire and South Wales.
It was a check for someone else so I used my certain knowledge to check and nothing will come for that either.
I will see what if anything can be done about it.
Many thanks.Viktoria.

Presumably, you are talking about FreeBMD.org?

Try surname spelling alternatives; even forename changes ;D

Or use GRO and/or FreeBMD with dad's surname and mother's maiden name
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Would you like to give us an example of a "missing" entry, so that other users can see if they have the same problem?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.
