Ann Hogg baptism c. 1802
« on: Wednesday 17 July 19 03:41 BST (UK) »
I am trying to work out DNA results to people in USA of same descent with shared matches. Trying to see if there is any baptism for an Ann Hogg c. 1802? Place of birth on Census under married name Burnett is Spittal, Lowick or Bowsden. Husband said to be Oswald Burnett.

Hogg could be the in common surname - if I can work out back from Ann.

Nothing under Spittal Presby.  I did find an Ann Hogg baptism in Lowick C of E but born 1811.  Ann Hogg born Jul 17 1811, baptised is where it gets weird.  On my transcript it is under 16 Dec 1807 along with a brother John born 17 Sep 1809.  Both children of James and Eleanor. Ann was born Lowick the brother John at Hunting Hall.  Both were born after that baptism date or maybe it was just entered in that spot.

The transcript jumps all over the place between regular C of E and dissenting ministers and Roman Catholics someone may just have to look at that register but at least there is a starting place to look at.

Thank you so much Janis for looking.
On the 1871 England Census at Spittal there is an Ann Burnett born abt 1802 Bowsden with grand daughter Isabella Boston abt 1860. Adjacent them is a Margaret Hogg (Head) who is probably nee Jameson.
Lower down on the page is a Thomas Hogg born abt 1799 Spittal.
My Hogg relatives are associated with Blyth and Blyth Link House specifically.

None of the children of Oswald Burnett and Ann seem to have births registered. Therefore it is impossible to check mother's maiden name. Seem to be baptised but no surname of mother given. I cannot find a marriage for Oswald and Ann either.

Have a look at FreeREG as there are several Ann Hoggs Bapt in there 1796-1802.
Cant find a Marriage to Oswald though.

Oswalds Bapt is there also 1802 from memory which fits as they name their 1st Daug Phyllis in 1821.
Then Oswald/Elizabeth/Mary Anne/Jane/John/Jane.
Cant find ones for Thomason or Maria

Oh thank you so much. At least that confirms her name is Hogg. Hopefully this is not a red herring as to how we share ancestry.
