John PLATT
« on: Sunday 28 July 19 20:19 BST (UK) »
John was born in 1828 in Standish Lancashire and in 1863 there is recorded a marriage between John and Elizabeth Rhodes in Prestwich.  George Platt was born circa 1852,Alice was born circa1855 and Jane was born circa 1862. This means 3 children were born ten years before they were married.  I wonder if John was married before but am not able to find another marriage.  I am also unable to find a death for John. He does appear in the census of 1901 living with his daughter Alice.  Can anyone help?

There are two John Platts with wives called Elizabeth, one was born in Toxteth and died 1915, one was born in Standish. This is causing the confusion. I have the two elder children on the 1861 in Newton in Makerfield with the John born in Standish.

In 1881 Standish John is a widower with three children all born Newton, how odd the names are the same for the ‘Appleton’ children
