Look up at Lancashire Archives
« on: Monday 29 July 19 14:36 BST (UK) »
Can anyone visiting Lancashire Archives help me by doing a look up of a Marriage at Rishton SS Peter & Paul in 2 qtr 1936.  Its not on Ancestry or Lancs OPC.  I know I could buy the actual certificate,  but I'm doing a one name study,  and cant afford to buy every certificate I need to solve a mystery.

Thanks

Sue

The marriage is between Arthur Horsman  and Elizabeth Astley Horsman  at Rishton SS Peter and Paul  2 qtr 1936.   I know who Arthur is but would love to have Elizabeth's details.  She is a mystery.  I cant find her on GRO births, or as someone who had already married a Horsman.
The wierd thing is Arthurs's grandmother had a maiden name of Astley.

Possible:

Ancestry have a birth registration for Elizabeth Astley Horsman - 09/1902 - Belfast.  FindMyPast have the same entry.

Plus 1911 Ireland Census - daughter of Edward and Annie Sophia Horsman - address shown as Harbour Street, Pottinger (part of) Down, Ireland.  Birth given as about 1903.

Added:

Transcription of 1911 from FamilySearch   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QYFL-TK2M
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Image of the 1911 census says that Edward and Annie Sophia have been married for 10 years, and have just the one child.

You are BRILLIANT !!!   Thanks so much
I'd not considered an Irish Connection - so feel a bit silly.
Just had a look at the 1911 census and her Dad Edward was from Lancashire,  and it appears he is Arthur's Uncle, so the happy couple were first cousins!
I'd wondered where Edward had gone off to.  Another missing link sorted.

I'd still like details of the marriage if anyone is at the archives

Yet again - many thanks

Sue
