Do you have a particular interest in Edward - is he an ancestor.

No birthplaces shown for Edward & Rachel but Edward jnr was b Yorkshire

Have you looked them up on earlier/later censuses?  www.familysearch.org have all censuses for free

I'm not sure if he is related, some of the other gypsies are to me that are there. I have searched both ancestery and find my past and tried to find the younger Edwards baptism. I was wondering if it was Edward / Edmund Charlotte but i'm not sure.

Found them it must be Edward Charlotte with Rachel as i found the younger Edward born in Finley as Edward Charlotte in the 1901 census married a Mary Ann Clayton.
Did Rachel sometimes call herself Margaret or are Rachel and Margaret two different women who Edward /Edmund Charlotte had children to

So are you saying that the surname is Charlotte not Smith?  Edward jnr did marry as surname Charlotte in 1885.  How does Smith become Charlotte?

1885 marriage cert shows Edward's father as Edmund Charlotte - hawker

Have you looked for a parental marriage?  No birth for Edward under Charlotte

Edmund Charlotte married Rachel Smith in 1842 Gainsborough

Edward charlotte / Smith married Mary Ann Clayton in  1885 who's dad is showing as Cistance Clayton who is most likely Sistance Charlotte, Edmunds brother, Sistance other half was Lementina Clayton , which would make Edward and Mary Ann 1st cousins.

In the 1911 census in Bradford Edward charlotte is living with a John Smith born waddingham Lincs 1861 , Edmund Charlotte had a son John Charlotte baptised in Waddingham in 1846.

In the 1901 census John Smith is showing as living in Bradford born 1861 Gainsborough ,living with him is his mother Rachel Smith aged 73 born 1828 Dorrington Lincs.

Also living at River Street in the 1881 census is Mary Ann Charlotte daughter of Edmund Charlotte living with Isaiah Smith.

I know a lot of the time the gypsie used their own surname and sometimes their partners.
