Having a closer at your DRO link JenB, it does look to be very comprehensive.

Slightly off topic (apologies SueChris) but out of curiosity, do you know how long the site has been around in that form?

I don't recall seeing it when I was researching my Durham ancestors (though it was sometime ago). It would have been very useful. :)

Ruskie, to be honest with you I can't remember exactly how long it's been available, but looking at references to it in my own postings I would say at least 10 years.

According to my post to the Rootsweb ENG-DURHAM list the Durham Place Names Index was there in 2004.
Added according to the Wayback Machine "Places in County Durham" was in 2000.
