Folan family Spidal galway ireland
« on: Sunday 04 August 19 09:39 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information regarding my grandmother Sarah Folan who was born in Spidal on 08/12/1919. Her parents were Thomas and Bridget Folan. Thomas Folan was born in the Aran Isles and married Bridget around 1910. Bridget's maiden name was believed to have also been Folan and it is thought that she went to America some time in the early 1900s but then returned and married Thomas. Sarah was one of 12 or 13 children but I have been unable to trace any definate records for her or any of her siblings. I know several moved to both the UK and the USA, and one Maria (or Mariah) died as a teenager in the 1930s. The family were relocated to Meath and Thomas died there in 1956, and Bridget in 1982 at the age of 96. My grandmother Sarah moved to London around 1937, married and had seven children dying in Margate Kent in 2005. Records in the UK sometimes show her maiden name as Foley not Folan. Any information on the Folan family would be much appreciated
