Hello John,

I ended up going to bed rather frustrated despite all the work you had done on this one as I didn't seem to be able to make any progress other than the marriage you located.

However your post just now pulled me back and it got me thinking that the first daughter of George LONGLEY and Mary SPARKES was named Martha. [you posted "It could be that the first wife of "our" John was Martha"]

Maybe the working hypothesis is that John LONGLEY and Martha are George's parents?

Thoughts?

Also in your post just now you said "They must be new on there?" I don't understand??

Yes, that is my working hypothesis. It ticks all the boxes, more or less. Wartling, Herstmonceux, daughter Martha, possible brother John baptizing a son George in Wartling.
We now know that John the blacksmith had a son called George, at any rate.

Yes, the connections, sorry. I think we were talking about different websites. I tend not to pay to much attention to those things anyway!
