Myheritage and Family Tree Builder problems
« on: Sunday 04 August 19 22:33 BST (UK) »
I am very experienced with computers, but I am having problems uploading my Gedcom file to MyHeritage. I go through the process of uploading it but it never appears. I have contacted support and they told me to try using Family Tree Builder. I have installed this but I cannot find an option to to upload the file. I have looked at this page

https://faq.myheritage.com/en/article/how-do-i-import-a-gedcom-file-in-family-tree-builder

But what I see when I run the the family tree builder app is totally different.

As far as I remember, Martin, I went to Family Tree on the top bar. Then clicked on import Gedcom.  I was then able to select the Gedcom that I'd created on my computer  and upload it to MH.

It will then appear in the Family Tree drop down under the My family tree  option.

Also, it's title  should appear in the top left hand corner.  I have a few trees so I select from that option.

It's possible that their site doesn't like the character set of the file.

I use TMG, and it doesn't like UTF-8.

Notepad's File, Save As allows you to change the set, from UTF-8 to ANSI (or vice versa).

When I do this in TMG, it ignores the CHAR record in the GEDCOM header, but you may need to tweak that too for MyHeritage.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Census information is Crown Copyright. See www.nationalarchives.gov.uk for details.

The following is a [ Notepad ] display of the contents of a gedcom file.

Would you show the contents of your gedcom file, down to ( but not including ) the name record of the first person on the file?

Someone may be able to spot something awry.

I've had no trouble uploading this elsewhere, and I'm not aware of any problems experienced by other users of Gramps, the program I use.

Yes, I tried many times on the website, following the simple prompts. Then I tried the app and couldn't even find the upload option.
