Grave at St Leonard's Bilston
« on: Sunday 11 August 19 12:41 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, with the help of rootschat I have located a relative, Richard Millington who was buried at St Leonard's church in Bilston on 13th Feb 1814 aged 43. One of the paying websites say there is a grave inscription as follows;
Millington Richard 43years, 13 Feb 1814 - I'm guessing therefore there should be a gravestone. Im just wondering if anyone is able to take a picture of the gravestone (if it still exists) so I can see if any other names are mentioned.

Many thanks, Luke

I suspect that the entry you can see links back to the findagrave website.  You can request a photo on there
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/200206394/richard-millington

ADDED
They also list some other Millington graves at that cemetery

I think with 18,000+ burials at the site, you will need to provide a plot reference.

Hi Luke

I work close to St. Leonard's Church, I will have a stroll down there in my lunch break one of the days next week and have a look.

I think there has been a mistake on the Findagrave website, there is nowhere near 18,000 graves in St. Leonard's Churchyard.  Have a look at this view of the church as it is today and you will see what I mean.

Also, on this side by side map (1892-1916) you can see another area across the road marked grave yard, this is now a grassed area with a path running through and no graves.

Thank you Jool that would be great. I do wonder now if there is much chance of a gravestone still being there though. Fingers crossed!

Findagrave website only confirms the burial and not necessarily a gravestone.  Many people just post entries from the burial register on it even though there is no headstone.

This is the link I posted earlier to his record on findagrave and their is no indication that there is a headstone https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/200206394/richard-millington .
