Some bad news about David Condon of the 18th (sorry)
He died 7.6.1875 (info from WO 23)
Probably the Fermoy death in second quarter 1875, age 43

Oh well back to the search. The 18th was in Fermoy in August 1877 which was what led me to that one.

I think I saw a pension payment record for a David Condon of the 88th - Michael Brereton's regiment. Will try and track that one down.

Have the Church registers been searched for him?
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Another possibility?
In 1871 at Raglan Barracks, Devonport (Stoke Damerel)
David Condon, 32, born Ireland, Private 2nd Bn. 18th Regt.
(piece 2129 folio 73 page 24)

According to the 1871 army index his number would be 2252

And there is a pension record for him indexed on ancestry in WO 117
Admitted to pension, 16 Sep 1879, age 40
They have place of birth as Chamel, Tipper

We can see it on TNA website using the image viewer, but images are watermarked

Perhaps that place of birth is going to be Clonmel, Tipperary?

The 18th was in Fermoy in August 1877

But I'm not sure about the 2nd Battalion. They may not have been in Ireland at the time of the marriage? :(
