If you tried to find him in the 1880 Texas census, you won't find him. He left Texas in 1880 and went to the "Pacific Slope". He lived on his boat for less than a year and returned to Texas. I found this in one of the old newspapers. He claimed he left "in search of better times" but he really had a knock down drag out fight with his 2nd wife over some land she sold. They divorced in 1890. (I have that record) He married for a third time and remained in Galveston until his death in 1905. He has a Confederate Grave marker. (Findagrave) and I've posted a short bio.
