!910 census Royalton, Niagara, New York.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M5HV-G8W?from=lynx1UIV7

1930 census Tonawanda, Erie, New York.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7Z4-TPL?from=lynx1UIV7

Immigration date on the 1910 says 1905 which maybe right.
Immigration date on the 1930 says 1885 which is wrong as he was in England 1901.
Wifes name changes from Ara to Belle but the ages are about the same so probably the same person.

There is this arrival, different spelling

Edward Neill. 22. So age a bit out
Departure Port:   Liverpool, England
Arrival Date:   21 May 1904
Arrival Port:   Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Vessel:   Lake Manitoba

Occupation is Joiner though so that’s positive

Modified to add, rule him out, he was from Belfast according to one transcript, but Durham on the list I can see.  So still no good.

Edward Neal, 20, Carpenter left Southampton for New York on 4/6/1904 on the 'Philadelphia'.

He arrived NY on 11/6/1904 - surname transcribed as 'Real' - and was going to his uncle John Chapman, in Medina (Orleans), New York.

As already stated, his father John married Mary Ann Chapman 7/12/1883 - he was a Fisherman - no father listed.

John himself was the illegitimate son of a Frances Neal/e - looks like she had a number of illegitimate children, none of whom appear to have been baptised as Neal.  John's birth is registered Dec.1853 Tunstead, illegitimate (no mmn),  and name shown as John Nudd Neal.   This suggests that a 'Mr' Nudd was probably John's father and there were a number of Nudd's living in Hickling.  I then looked at baptisms again and found he was baptised as John Nudd, son of John Nudd, labourer and Frances Neal on 2/10/1853.   The parents were definitely not married!

Frances Neal bp.8/11/1835 Hickling, dau. of John (Inn Keeper) and Mary.
