Thomas Meret married Mary Ladbourne at St Thomas, Portsmouth 24 April 1763.

Why do you think that he was born Aylsford, Hampshire.  Do you mean Alresford  :-\

Hi Gayle

Are you descended from Thomas & Mary?  They are 6x great-grandparents of mine, via their son James Merritt (1770-1842).

Update: you have prompted me to have a fresh look at my James, and it looks like they weren’t his parents at all!  Oops.  I now have new 6x great-grandparents  :)

Do you have James & Jane on census or did they die before 1841.

Do you have their deaths/ burials

Sorry so many questions but I can't locate their marriage either
