John Hazell - Yarnton
« on: Wednesday 14 August 19 05:50 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to sort my tree and I am looking for marriages for John Hazell born 1808 born to Thomas Hazell and Elizabeth (Viner). Baptised 5 June 1808 in Yarnton.

He marries #1 Hannah ?? and has 2 daughters Rebecca, baptised 2 Dec 1832 and Elizabeth baptised 22 Feb 1835 in  Yarnton. I have them on the 1841 Census along with his mother Elizabeth. Hannah dies 1850 and he is a widower with daughter Rebecca on 1851 Census.

He marries again about 1852 to a Maria ???   Not sure about this one
He marries again about 1866 to a Eleanor/Ellen Giles/Perry baptised as natural daughter of a Caroline Giles 23 Feb 1827. Married at St Ebbes
On the 1871 Census he is Cumnor, Berks with wife Ellen and son John aged about 3 yrs ?

Can anyone find these marriages.  I'm stumped.  All of the above comes from a distant relative who has since lost all of his records when he shifted countries.  He tells me his research was done many years ago when he lived in Oxfordshire.

Many thanks in advance
Jen

St Ebbe, Oxford - Banns - called 9, 16 and 23 December 1866 (entry marked as Married)

John Hazell, widower and Ellen Mackay, widow, both of this parish.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

1871 census - John Hazell aged 3 -

GRO entry - June quarter 1868 - Abingdon District (which covers Cumnor) - mother's maiden name is Giles.

Thank you so much for that.  Now if I can find her marriage to Mr Mackay, and Johns marriage to Hannah, and if he had a marriage to a Maria, after Hannah but before Eleanor/Ellen.

I think this family is a challenge!!

Possible first marriage:

Pallot's Marriage Index - Standlake, Oxfordshire

John Hazell and Hannah Hickman by Licence.  BUT I wonder if that is too early, says 1823  :-\

Forget that one - she is still alive in 1851.
