MAGUIRE / MARKEY ca 1870 - 1920 Clones
« on: Wednesday 14 August 19 20:16 BST (UK) »
Any one searching the George Maguire ( born Fermanagh) & Margaret Markey family of Clones. In particular
Mary Jane Maguire b. ca 1877 -  1887 . Trying especially to locate Her birth and Marriage what year to James Closkey McDevitt. I know she is in Montreal Canada at the time of her daughter "Molly's" birth in 1906. A son John George born 1908 Calgary Alberta Canada. Minnie dies 1909 Dec 31 Calgary AB. On her children's Marriage Registration it lists Edith Smyth as mother but that is untrue...Mary Jane aka Minnie was 1 of atleast 4 daughters including Nelly who married Forsythe (Australia) Harriette who married Mark S*rn Allen and went to Vancouver, BC Canada
and Georgina ?Elliott ? as well as Lissanne. I've also looked at the 1901 Irish Census

Hi

Is this George and his wife Margaret Jane Maguire living in Clones in the 1901 Census - link below:-

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Monaghan/Clones_Urban/Whitehall_Street/1631525/

Daughter Nellie and her husband John Forsythe (from Australia) were staying with George and Margaret Jane at the time of the census, as were several other members of their extended family.

Regards

Www.irishgenealogy.ie lists the 1873 birth of a Mary Maguire, also of Whitehall Street, Clones, to a Mother, Mary Maguire.  No name of Father.  See below:-

I RECKON SO...The poster looked at the 1901 Irish Census but didn't say if they were found or not!

Ellen FORSYTHE might have been a bit creative with her age at the 1901 census.

I cannot see a marriage for John FORSYTH / E  to Ellen on QLD BDM.

Brisbane Courier 28 Mar 1910 p7
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/19627289?

Mrs. John FORSYTHE, wife of Mr. John FORSYTHE, owner of the Pioneer Battery at Station Creek, died yesterday afternoon at her husband's residence (our Cloydon correspondent wired on Saturday). She had been ill only five days, and death resulted from sudden heart failure. She was 38 years of age, and leaves a husband and two children.

She was known all over the Gulf and North Queensland, and entertained lavishly Governors of Queensland or distinguished visitors coming to Croydon during the past 18 years. She was very charitable and generous, and her sudden death has caused deep regret.

Why is Ellen and family in Ireland, 1901?.

Electoral Rolls Queensland.......Robert James MAGUIRE seems to have no wife.

Who is the informant at his death, 1925, who knows about his origins?.
