Theodore Wolfe / John Ames

Hi,

Am trying to find some info on my great-grandmother's father & step-father.

My great-grandmother is Marjorie Wolfe (26/5/1900 - 17/2/1992) & her mother is Edith Lill.  Unfortunately I don't know much about her father, Theodore E Wolfe & her step father, John Ames (who ended up adopting Marjorie).

Any help much appreciated.

do you have any more details about where she was born and where she died? Have you found her on any censuses, if so where?

Also: Same questions for her mother.

My great-grandmother, Marjorie, was born & died in the Chicago area & her mother was similar, born & died in the Cook County area of Illinois.

Not entirely sure on details for her father or step/adoptive father.

I just now found Theodore's "tree" - not much on it. still looking. It says he died 3 March 1946 in Chicago, but no source.

This could be his death, the birthplace agree. But better to find him first with parents with these names, or the marriage record with Edith.

But, there were two men named Theodore Wolfe/Wolff in Chicago in 1910. The man who died in 1946 could be this man, not the one who was divorced, who was presumably Edith's ex husband.

Marriage of that Thomas and Elizabeth, 21 Sep 1902, in Michigan. She says she had been married before, but he hadn't.

Here's what I found on John G Ames. Mostly at ancestry, but the records should all be at familysearch as well, censuses and Massachusetts marriages. . I included the ancestry links in case you have it. It was easier for me than switching back and forth between the sites to find the free link.

I think this all fits together, you will have to sort through it yourself to be sure. Note that the newspaper obit said his body was sent to Baltimore after the service. I don't know why he died in Tulsa or why Mr Lill said "go back to Oklahoma" --  maybe family there? I didn't look.

Marriage took place in St Louis, Missouri, but was also registered in Marblehead Massachusetts, the residence of the bride.

[Massachusetts did that. Still might. The marriage was registered where it happened and in the home town of the other party as well]

Elizabeth was the twin sister of his first wife Susan. they are registered following each other on the Marblehead, Massachusetts births.

No sign of Susan's death at ancestry.com. Most of the trees have her and Elizabeth combined as one, or ignore Susan completely.
