Why have you not been able to obtain your friend's marriage certificate? Is there some kind of cut off date after which you cannot obtain a certificate?
Have you tried writing to a local newspaper and asking if anyone remembers her and where she may be now? Any of her relatives that you can contact for information, her parents for example?
