Branchfield House (Leyny)

Description:   The residence of the McKim family for many generations, Branchfield was enlarged and extended in the later nineteenth century. At the time of Griffith's Valuation it was held from Catherine Gore by Patrick McKim and valued at £5. McTernan states that the lands were sold to the Congested Districts Board in 1910, though the family retained the house. It is currently undergoing renovation.

"..Then there is the McKim farm at Carrownacreevy or Branchfield, in the parish of Mullinabreena, containing upwards of 270 acres to which I have repeatedly directed the attention of the Land Commission. This land should have been acquired and subdivided years ago. There are a large number of uneconomic holdings in the vicinity. Unfortunate tenants are huddled in small farms on the side of the Ox Mountain in close proximity to this substantial farm, the subdivision of which would give much-needed relief. I hope no time will be lost in the acquisition of this farm....."

"Hi Cyril , if you haven't already got updated information on Philip Mc Kim of Branchfield House ( and also on Mc Kim / Reid marriage) then I'm pretty sure I can fill in some gaps if you email me your queries- carmel.kelly3'at'btinternet.com. I am the current( McKim) owner of Branchfield House and a great grand niece (I think )of the last Philip Mc Kim from Branchfield........"

Thanks so much.
Can't believe how much information you have all found.!
I believe Matilda must have been Patrick G McKim's brother if his mother's name was Clarke as Matilda and Francis Whittaker Shaw had a son they named Follis Clarke Shaw.
George Warren Shaw and Isabella were Frank's parents (memorial)
Wow! Thought posting this was a long shot but had no idea!!
Thanks again

Yes George W(arren) Shaw. He did have a daughter Eliza Shaw and Matilda was the wife of his son Francis Whittaker Shaw.
Just to add another dimension to this complicated story.... Eliza Shaw married the grandfather of Olive Mary Nixon who in turn married her nephew Francis Whittaker Shaw junior!

Question is who was Eliza Rutherford? Was she related to all the people in her will or did she just know everyone in the area 😂
