New Lane in Bangor High St.
« on: Monday 26 August 19 11:13 BST (UK) »
Does anyone remember this narrow alley that is today a gated passage between 'Bangor Vapes' and 'Alton Murphy' on the same side as The Castle Hotel (now 'New Look')? Any information and photos would be useful. There's nothing on the Bangor Civic Society website about it.
The only clue I have was that it had a photographic development building there in the '60s. From the Historic Town Plan of 1889 and from the 1881 to 1901 censuses New Lane had 6 properties.
Many thanks.

Not sure if you mean 1960 or 1860. That passageway has been gated from as early as 1950 if not before so I didn't get to walk down it. Posting map from about 1900 in case someone else may know

Many thanks. I looked at the Archive newspaper and it mentions two women related through marriage being bound over to keep the peace.
