Ancestry - updated to show adoptive / step parents
« on: Monday 26 August 19 21:12 BST (UK) »
I logged in to Ancestry.ca today (Aug 26/19) and noticed that when looking at the Facts for an adopted or step child, the parentage is now shown correctly.  That is, the step parent is clearly identified as such, as are parents who have adopted a child.  The family tree remains unchanged, but it's a nice feature and more clearly identifies the relationship(s).

[If someone else has posted on this, please excuse me as I did have a quick look.  Moderator feel free to move if this is the case.]

This was introduced a few weeks ago. It is very useful where there are multiple relationship types to consider.

Thanks for posting that. I have just been to have a look and my adopted great grandmother has her biological and adoptive parents correctly labelled as such.

Nice addition Ancestry.  :)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
