James White born 1858 Partick, Glasgow

In 1861 census at Douglas Street and 1871 Whitehall st Anderston, Glasgow

Mother Ann McKay died in 1864. Glasgow and father James died 1898 Glasgow

A fairly common name, so not so easy to track. There a couple of James White emigration records in the early 1890s that might be worth taking a closer look at.

Have you eliminated the James White age 22 Boiler Maker, living with his aunt Catherin Russell age 48.
Address 26 Shamrock Street, Glasgow. 1881 census

No knowledge of anyone called Russel in the family. Does it say where she was born?

It says born Glasgow,  a mill worker.
It says that for James as well but Partick is an area of Glasgow.

I think he died. There is never any chat about him in family into later generations.
