But apparently born st John the Baptist in hereford

How do you know he was born in St John the Baptist, Hereford?
That information is only available on the baptism entry.

If you are referring to the marriage entry, "of the parish of . . ." refers to where he was living at the time of the marriage, and where the banns were to be called.

There is a Henry Pritchard baptised 5 October 1798 at Hereford St John, parents Henry and Mary.

Also baptised to the same parents were Lucy 1 May 1796 and Thomas 31 March 1794.
