Quaker Family History Society Mansfield Autumn Meeting 9th November
« on: Friday 30 August 19 22:07 BST (UK) »
QFHS Autumn One Day Meeting - Mansfield Friends Meeting House, Notts. NG19 6AB, UK
- Saturday 9th November

. Save the date!

I'm delighted to tell you plans are well advanced for our QFHS Autumn One-day Meeting in Mansfield.
This is the less well known area pre 1652 where the young George Fox developed his embryonic Quaker movement.

We are privileged to have Ralph Holt, who developed the Mansfield Quaker Trail coming to tell us all about these early Quakers and , weather permitting, show us so something of the trail.
We are delighted Richard Burman from the Nottingham Library and Archives Service will be telling us about the Quaker records in the archives. He is bringing along some reproductions of these records for us to examine.
A couple of short talks are still to be finalised but we will learn something of
  • Samuel Fox who founded the Nottingham Building Society (no relation to George Fox) amongst other things.
  • John Edward Ellis of Hucknall, a Quaker Colliery Manager -a man of high ideals

If you have Quaker family connections with this area or these people and you would like to tell us about them , do get in touch.

As normal, bring your own sandwiches but tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided and the cost will be just £10 per person.

Here is the draft programme.
