Beardsley of Melbourne and Belper
« on: Saturday 31 August 19 15:30 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am looking for any information on John Beardsley b 1813 in Belper. Some records say Shottle. I know in later years the family moved to Melbourne Derbyshire. John was a butcher, as was his son Robert, who murdered his wife! John married an Elizabeth Radford. I have been unable to find John's parents

Thanks in advance

Marriage record for John Beardsley to Elizabeth Radford  4 Mar 1833 has a William Beardsley and what looks like a Mary J? Beardsley as witnesses.

Perhaps relatives of John Beardsley which may help?

JJ

Hi All

I too have been researching John Beardsley & Elizabeth Radford. He was my Gt.Gt.Gt. Grandfather through their son Joseph, b. 1839.  There are a lot of Beardsleys in Belper but, as yet, I've had no luck in tracing his parents.

Reference Robert Beardsley, samhuzz, the newspaper articles make interesting reading. My Grandmother could remember him when he came out of prison. She was scared of him. He worked for his father in the butcher's shop and was known as the village 'pig sticker' as he would kill the pigs owned by families in Melbourne.

Will keep searching.
