In 1861, Margaret is a widow so not married to William Charlton at that time, although there is an infant Charlton.

1861 751/74/29

She is a lodger with widow Sarah Charlton - no William snr in the household.

Interesting! Widow Margaret Skingsley is living with her sons (Arthur Cornelius) future wife Sarah Charlton born 1840 and mother-in-law Sarah Charlton born 1817 . I think Sarah born 1817 wasn’t a widow, she had several illegitimate children born in Swallowfield, and no marriage I can see

Good news suz! :D

The William Charlton who was with Margaret in 1871 was born in Ackfield Hampshire about 1819 could be Heckfield Hampshire . There are two baptism in Hartley Wintney Hampshire, William 1815 son of William and Rachel, William 1821 son of Samuel and Caroline . There’s also one for William Charlton in Swallowfield which is not far away from heckfield ,1821 son of Michael and Ann, this one would be a brother of Sarah senior born 1817

Hi,
There is a William Charlton bapt. 5-6-1814 (s/o George & Hannah) and
also a William Charlton bapt. 21-4-1822 (s/o George & Marianne) both in Heckfield cum Mattingley.
There are also several other William Charltons being bapt. around this time in neighborouing parishes such as Hartley Wintney and Eversley.
