www.gro.gov.uk - I get the error message when using Firefox and Win8.1.

Try https://www.gro.gov.uk instead.

Thank you all for you help.

KG, I am on Vista, and Firefox is 52.9.0, and they are not updating Firefox for Vista :-X
When I tried to log on with OH's laptop, with Win 10 and Firefox I still got the error message. I was able to "Connect Anyway", but with my desktop and Vista, that option did not come up ::)

Gadget, It is possible that has something to do with it.

Angus and hallmark, I tried that, but still got the error, so it would seem that it is Vista that is causing the problem.

Again, many thanks for your help. I will have to use OH's laptop for the odd occasion I need to check GRO, until I upgrade to a new desk top. That will be after we have been changed over to the NBN here. Hopefully :o that will allow me to get higher speeds and less buffering ::)

I frankly I do not know what I am on. I just turn the computer on any start typing. Ordered a Marriage
Certificate today from the GRO. As usual no problems.

I've tried https://www.gro.gov.uk/ but that doesn't work.

I can get on the GRO site on my iPad with Safari.

No problems here using Win 10 & Firefox.

Have you possibly upped the security on Firefox by refusing cookies ?

I've got Win7 on an old laptop tucked away  and will try getting the GRO site tomorrow

I have just tried the GRO site with Win7 and latest Firefox and have had no problems.

I normally use Win10 or Mac Mojave with Firefox and have had no problems that I can recall.

Please excuse the delay in responding. I just had surgery.
I can now access the GRO site and just successfully searched for my father's birth record in 1907. I don't know what has changed, but I'm IN.
Again, I'm using Windows 7 Professional and Firefox. Since Windows 7 won't be supported after 14th January 2020, I'm considering all options for a new PC or laptop - or even trying to download Windows 10.
