William C Bunt
« on: Thursday 05 September 19 15:00 BST (UK) »
HI, looking for more information about my grandfather, William Bunt who served on the western front from 1914 to 1916. He was a driver in the Canadian army service corps, later transferring to the 1st Indian cavalry division. He was discharged in 1916. His service number was m/2 021805. I have found his war medal in an auction site where it was sold with three others.

Hi Carol, thanks for the welcome. Bit of a mystery man, my grandfather. I think he was born on the Isle of Wight. I will have to obtain a copy of his death cert' to get his birth date. Can I get a copy of his military service by using his army number? I posted on this site as whilst starting this research, I viewed a post asking for information about a Frederick Bunt, who also transferred to the 1st Indian cavalry between 1914 and 1916.

Good spot Cathy...Just saw that and came to post..Married Kirkbradden Douglas I of M  in 1911 and they had two sons, William and Norman and an unnamed child when he enlisted. He was living at
21 Hope Street, Douglas Iofitt at the time of enlistment.
