The marriage entry gives a middle initial ‘W’ for Robert

Obtaining their m/c would hopefully give an age, father ‘s name , their occupations , address and maybe witnesses might be a family member

Do you have the m/c?

Do you have an address for them from birth of their child?

Electoral Register might confirm his middle name......as previously mentioned if you don’t have their marriage certificate obtaining that might help

If they  were all boatmen and travelled a lot you need all the information that you can find, so obtaining the marriage certificate is essential.

Try https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl , there is a 1950's birth with mother's maiden surname Walker.
