Protestant burial in Boyle 1858 -- where would this be?
« on: Sunday 08 September 19 04:04 BST (UK) »
William PRICE, an officer of excise, died "in this town on the 10th inst, suddenly", according to the Roscommon and Leitrim Gazette of 11 September 1858. He didn't leave a will, but letters of administration were granted to his widow, Elizabeth Price.
He had no ties to Boyle, where he had been working for less than a year, and his widow and three young children didn't stay there.
Where in Boyle would he likely have been buried?
There's no sign of him on irishgenealogy.ie. Are there other places that might have records of protestant burials from this time?
I'm trying to find out his approximate date of birth, to distinguish him from the many others with the same name in his home county of  Shropshire.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Maybe a Marriage Cert will reveal where he came from, father's name/address etc  ??

Thanks, hallmark, yes, I've been trying to track him down for a while.
Found his marriage to Elizabeth Hill in Glasgow, 12 January 1846. No extra information on the marriage record, unfortunately, except that they were married by Mr Charles Popham Miles, Episcopal Clergyman in Glasgow.

I thought so.....Rootschat has got so bad with multiple threads for same people I can't be bothered even looking anymore.

There might be relevant stuff there that helpers need to know before looking for stuff that has already been found in order to try to help......

Good hunting!

Thanks, hallmark, for your interest and for sending on those links.
I'm afraid it's inevitable that the names of hard-to-find individuals are going to turn up at different times on different discussion boards as we try out different lines of enquiry. This seems to be especially likely if the individuals moved around a lot, which is where the trail often gets harder to follow.
Sorry if I didn't make it clear from the start that I had written before about this man and his descendants. I really just wanted to know where protestant burial records might be available for Boyle, since I knew he had died there.
I appreciate your help.

Church of Ireland- Boyle comes under Elphin Diocese-
https://www.dkea.ie/parishes/elphin/

This website will tell you what records survive- records for Boyle at RCB, Dublin but Roots Ireland (pay site) do seem to have some records (probably transcriptions)-

Hi aghadowey
Thanks for the links. It's useful to see which churches are within the diocese. The Roots Ireland site looks promising.
Cheers

Remember that the COI website shows CURRENT churches and won't show you ones no longer in use.
