Yes, that’s correct, but where on earth is James Alfred from his birth (can’t find it) in 1867 to 1906?

There’s a birth registration for a James Arthur Harvey (can’t see an Alfred)
last quarter of 1866 in Maldon (covered Cold Norton then)
Mother’s maiden name Purkiss.

I think I have found him. There is a July August September birth Mile End Town London, James Alfred Harvey. I looked up his family and Dad William is born Cold Norton. I think this must be him. The fact that he said on the 1911 census that he was from Cold Norton is slightly anomalous, but his father was from there.
Everything else fits. He remains single as far as I can see up to the 1906 marriage ,but he is alone  in the workhouse aged 9, very sad.
If anyone thinks it isn’t him, let me know!!

Hello.  I see you are looking for info on James Alfred Harvey,  he is my paternal grandfather.  He married Mary Plunkett and they had 12 or 13 children.  12 we know about, and one more rumoured to exist, but we don't know any details,  although I found a possible twin. My father was the 11th of 12, and survived his siblings.  The 8 eldest children were at various times sent to the Ashford Industrial school and James and Mary themselves spent time in the workhouse, and it seems that James was in an Industrial school at the age of 13.  How are you related?
