Hi all,
Thanks to your generous help I was able to establish the following about one of my ancestors:
I'm pretty certain that John Cornelias was baptised in St Georges Canterbury 1705, married Ramsgate in 1733 and died Ramsgate 1789.
Records list his father as Thomas Cornelias and mother as Elizabeth Rogers who married in St Georges Canterbury 1697. But this is where I get stuck: I can't pin point Thomas' birth or where he came from.
I did a search for a Thomas Cornelias born 1670-1686 in England. Two viable options came up:
- Thomas Cornelias baptised 14/12/1679 in St Bartholemew The Great in London
- Thomas Cornelius baptised 17/12/1676 in St Martin In The Fields in London
I can't find any of their children listed anywhere. What could I do to progress? I'm assuming that the CorneliUs / CorneliAs spellings can be explained by handwriting issues..?
