Edward BEAL (1768-1852)
« on: Wednesday 11 September 19 11:05 BST (UK) »
Edward BEAL was my 4GGF. I know that he was born c1768 in Finmere, though I can't find a record of his baptism. I also know that he died and was buried in 1852 in Finmere. Finally I know that he married a woman named Elizabeth, who died and was buried in 1855 in Finmere. I can find no record of their marriage.

As far as I know they had 11 children, all born and baptised in Finmere: John (1792-?), Hannah (1794-?), Ann (1796-?), Maria (1798-1869), Mary (1800-1875), John (1802-1874), Daniel (1804-?), Martha (1805-?), Elizabeth (1807-?), Elizabeth (1809-?), George (1813-1890).

The only children I know anything about apart from their baptisms are:

Maria (1798-1869) - married James Holton and died in Tingewick

Mary (1800-1875) - married Thomas BEDDING and died in Finmere, though her burial remains a mystery

John (1802-1874) - who married a woman named Ann and died in Finmere. I know nothing about his wife Ann and have not been able to find their marriage record or her death.

George (1813-1890) - who had two marriages and died in Finmere.

I would appreciate some help in adding some flesh to the above bones.

George & Elizabeth had at least 7 children between 1836 & 1852. They are on familysearch.

Daniel married a Mary Handley in Bulkington, Warwick, 1835 and they appear on 1841, 1851 & 1861 census in Warwickshire. He is listed as a farmer. No children on any of the census records that I can see.

It is more than likely that the 1st John & 1st Elizabeth died in infancy possibly shown in parish records.

Many thanks for the info on Daniel. I have now found him also in 1871 and 1881 in Atherstone. In 1871 he is still with Mary, but by 1881 he appears to have a new wife named Sarah!

There is a death for Mary in 1879 in Atherstone [Q1 1879 Atherstone 6d 308]. Similarly there is a death for Daniel also in Atherstone [Q1 1890 Atherstone 6d 343.

Two problems: (1) I can't find a marriage to Sarah (2) the age on Daniel's death record is 78 which is a serious miscalculation, though still in the realms of possibility.

I tend to agree with you about John and Elizabeth given the birth of later children with those names but can't find appropriate burials.

I had the info o George, but the Daniel info is new to me. Thanks.

I don't see a Daniel Beal baptized 1804 but there is one 30 June 1811 son of Edward and Elizabeth,
at Finmere.
